Good morning everyone,

My name is Garrett and I live in Mid Michigan (US). I’m 38 years old and have been sewing since I was about 10 or so when my mom taught me to sew on her old Singer Athena 2000. I bought my own machine (a used Athena 2000... :grinning: ) back in 2000 and have been using it ever since. It is obviously not cut out for upholstery or heavy duty work.

I pulled the trigger on a used Pfaff 145 that I am picking up tomorrow in Toledo. It got a full refurb and I purchased a new clutch motor as well. I have to build my own table which is fine as I dabble in wood work as well.

Either way; I plan to spend quite a bit of time on here researching techniques and The who, what, when, where and how of upholstery and industrial style sewing.

@MillerMav welcome to the forum. Sounds like you already have a good start to getting into upholstery work. There are plenty of people on here willing to help. Never be afraid to ask a question.

@MillerMav ,

Welcome to the forum. I think you are going to be a busy boy with industrial sewing, you already know how to sew, get that table built and start looking for repairs or cover work. My mom was a tailor for a major clothing chain and my grandfather did upholstery. Sewing was HUGE around me and I never paid a lick of attention. It is GOOD you listened to your mom :wink:
