Is it possible to make it form to the floor pan curves nicely or not ? the main areas i am concerned about if the transmission tunnel to pan areas and where they come back up at the seat .

If you haven't already, check out ACC (Auto custom carpet) they have a ton of colors in your moulded specific 1966 F-100. Not many in the factory loop style but in the cut pile.

I have seen people steam the heck out of carpet before and get it to take a lot of shape. But I personal think it looks really bad. If you cant find a kit at ACC like Bondo mentioned. There are two ways to do it.

You can make the carpet in multiple pieces with a nice finished edge. This is my favorite way. Here is a picture.

The other way you can do it is. You can cut the individual pieces for the carpet and sew them together just like you would a seat cover. After that glue the carpet to the floor of the car then take a big needle or a small pick tool and run it along all your seams. What your doing here is pulling all of the carpet fibers out of the seam so that the 2 pieces blend together and all looks like one piece.

What about molding with a heat gun? Does that work?

@Cale it really depends on how much it needs to move. Like @John stated it doesn’t look the best. Bust some older vehicles don’t have the larger transmission tunnels and all the contours modern cars have. Those are easier. But the options John mentioned as the best ways to go I think.

You will melt the carpet fibers really easily with a heat gun. In my opinion molded carpet kits dont look near as good as doing a multi piece carpet.
Here is a video on making molded carpets. Its similar to vacuum forming plastic.
