Hi Folks, I have been interested in custom upholstery ever since I was a young but my life went in a different direction and I became a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic. Now at age 66 I have decided to give it a try. I bought a Sailrite LSZ 1 because of the support and watched a ton of utube videos and decided to make cushions for my boat. This is my first attempt at sewing anything. It was challenging and fun at the same time. My wife works for a Marina and showed them to her boss and he said to be careful or I would get more work than I want to do. I have a whole lot to learn and for me that’s the fun part. John thanks for this forum, between your videos and the great folks here I have been able to eliminate a lot of frustration.

Could be thread tension. I would try a bit more or less on the top thread. When I first started with my LSZ, and something came up, I would email Sailrite. They were very helpful. Most of my problems seemed to pilot error.

I've had that happen when using cheap/low quality thread. Good quality thread really makes a difference. I've been using Serabond Tex 210 exclusively since I figured that out LOL

Even using a good quality thread I’ve been wham boozled by a couple spools that we wound to tight and caused problems going through thicker layers….. watch you thread tension all the way back to the spool
