ATV cover and ordered wrong marine zipper length #10 size zipper. I need to make a zipper stop. What are your ways of making zipper stops. I do not have a zipper crimp tool on hand.

Most of the things that needs zippers, I just sew back and forth a few times. I hide the ends under the flap that hides the zipper far enough back that it can't be zipped that far accidently zipped to far.

For plastic zippers I use some of the off cut teeth meshed into each side and then use my hot knife to melt and blend it together.

For metal zippers I just buy the stops and crimp them on if the ends can't be hidden and sewn.

Check out Sailrites videos. I'm pretty sure they have covered this more then once.

@WILD BILL, HOT DAMN!!!! I like that and would have never thought of the melting into the other teeth.

Melting the teeth is an easy way, you can add a piece of fabric to cover a few teeth to make a stopper as well, and as mentioned before, depending on zipper size, you can fold over

Tried the melting method and it works just fine but snipping a piece of 3/4 binding folded over the teeth and just sewn in with the zipper is more efficient time wise. #10 zipper stops aren't difficult to put on, i use a pair of curved needle nose pliers and they do a fine job.
