Hey guys, I recovered a Saddleman seat for a Softail Heritage. The seat is covered with real gator hide and trimmed with leather (sorry vegans). This was a super nerve wrecking job as the gator hide we had to buy was 450 bucks just to get one wide enough for the pattern. Some learning points for me but overall it turned out great.

Thanks guys! @Cody i procrastinated forever on sewing it up. No redo on that stuff! Still took a beer to get started lol.

@Revv Up its insane! The gator was supposed to cover all the way to the top of the seat but due to holes and armpits I had to do the insert at the top.

@bibeejh i know that feeling myself. I’ve sat and pondered many times and finally took a step back and a drink down and said well I have to stop over thinking and here goes nothing and hope for the best. I think you did well

Maybe this is one of the reasons why the gator hunters only use a small caliber gun, and only pointing to the head :nerd:

Haha I'm sure do that to make sure they kill it instead of angering it :joy: the hole had was likely made during skinning. Good note to make, if you're ever in the market, pay attention to grade of the hide.

  By the way, I have just had a look in Internet the reason why in the "Swam people" show we see that they use .22 rifles to hunt alligators and someone made this comment:
Thrashing pissed off gator on a string, lurching aluminum boat, angry Cajun partner hollering at you to "shoot de dam ting", cameraman pointing shiny foreign object in your face, both of your teeth chattering in the heat of the moment, NOT a good time for a large caliber firearm.
