Im Looking for someone who can point in the right direction here. I'm trying to match a purple and yellow marine vinyl from a baja boat (1996 era). All of the purples I have found are much darker. And the only one I have found to even come somewhat close, is not even a marine grade vinyl. I have determined that the yellow and white must be a spadling brand. And found some very close. I am trying to match to the inside seem or a spot where sun does not appear for best color match, so I'm not comparing to a sun faded area. Any help of where I can some these colors would be appreciated. I've checked, ennis, spadling, ottertex, flexa, triadvantage, sunbrella, naughahyde. Any brands im missing? Any help would be appreciated. (Im new at this so it’s a learning curve)

I don't see any thing is purple marine from my suppliers. I have bought some Denali that is purple and it is called Eggplant. I did the total interior of one of my hot rods with it.

If you're doing the whole boat, just need to get close. If it's a piece here and there, it'll be a tall order to match it. You can try to match the inside seam color as you stated but anything you don't replace will be faded and look different. Seabrook and allsport have a purple but then you get into matching grain and sheen and i don't know if either Seabrook or allsport will match spradling islander(or if they have the correct purple). Fashoins change and when a color becomes unpopular, it gets discontinued. Even at that boat manufacturers sometimes have their own dye lots for a particular run of boats so matching those is impossible. You could use the opportunity to update the look of the boat by re designing and omitting the loud 1990's color scheme that really does date the boat. If you can't get what you need then have the customer decide which purple to use if they insist on original. You can't control what's available

The all sport purple is as close as I can get. And it’s still really dark. Surprisingly the purple does not seem to be as faded, even looking at the inseam or bottom of the bolsters that don’t really see the sun. There is matching colors in the rest of it also. Boat was always stored inside. I’m only doing the sun pad and bottom back seat. Only things that are worn and bad. This is my own personal boat, so trying to keep it original. The sun pad matches the side of the boat. The yellow I’m having issues matching the color and grain also. Ive found a couple colors to match the yellow, but there not a marine grade. Don’t have the shine to them, or believe the uv resistance. Question, has anyone ever had a manufacturer make a certain color before then?

Regarding custom colors, I work for a commuter railroad and have dealt with replacement upholstery. Custom colors can be done but there is usually a minimum quantity. In our case, we had to order a 1500 yard minimum - this was about 10 years ago so I'm not sure if it still would apply - and this was with one particular supplier.

Back to your original question, if you are only doing certain sections, maybe you don't have to be so careful in matching them up as long as they're close. If they're right next to each other then yse you need to be really close but if they are on different areas of the boat maybe you can be off a little. OR, maybe find something close and buy enough to do the whole boat and then do it as time permits?

I found someone who has some knowledge with the vinyl I’m looking for. And was able to get me the names of the products. Which is no longer made. My question is, does anyone happen to have any of these colors laying around, or know possible who I can contact? The true color names are, Regal red, tangerine (more of a yellow color not orange), Mulberry (bright purple), and Arctic (white). They weren’t sure of the original manufacturer though. The purple is the color I would more than anything like to match at least.

I went in back to check our colors and I think we have what you need. Different names but my tech said these are very similar. When a company went out of business we bought up all their Vinyl. Try searching Pyramid, they are no longer in business but if you can find their color code you can see if these might work. Windstar WIN 104 Tropicana Orange, Win-131 Windstar Bombay Fig. We have arctic white also. We have a red that might work as well.
