Hello everyone. I'm new not only to the forum but to upholstery as well. I'm trying to learn how to do this on my own, along with the help of YouTube and what ever other resources I can find. The project I'm working on right now is my 99 Escalade. I bought the truck used and the plastic interior pieces show it. With that being said, I'm trying to cover the pieces with vinyl. In doing so, I goofed on the very first piece I've done. I covered up the mounting screw hole and I'm trying to figure out how to fix my mistake without it looking horrible or having to source another piece to try to cover and not screw up. (Like I said I'm trying something new so, please don't clown me but so bad.)

Not sure why you're saying you messed up. What covered the screw hole originally? You have to get to the screw to hold the piece in regardless of what is on the surface.

The original piece didn't have anything covering the screw hole. I added the vinyl to the surface blocking access to the hole. I'm just trying to figure out how to get the screw where it needs to be witout having a gaping hole in the vinyl that looks horrible. I've been debating on whether to try to do a "+" cut and hope it will stick to the hole as i push the vinyl into the hole or just using a soldering iron to melt a hole for access.

Ace Hard have lots of plug type items. As far as I can tell you had no choice. Just make an X across the hole and put maybe a chrome plug in it.

Agreed. And if you don't like the look of the plug you could try and cover it with the same vinyl so it matches.
