I have been wondering what was the first manufacture of a sewing machine? This dates back a long time and I wonder how they got to the designs they did.

I always wonder about the minds of the folks that think up how to make machines do things. Not just sewing machines but how about the early clocks, cad run machines, etc. The list could go on forever.
