hi
i am working on reupholstering my recaros from my 98 subaru sti, the back rest and the seating are foam backed and bonded/glued onto the main seat foam.
the material i am using has no foam backing, so, i plan to purchase foam and follow the same construction as the recaro, glue foam backing to fabric and glue to seat foam.

is there a particular glue to use? to avoid the glue passing through the fabric, or just go easy on the application?

the other sections of the seat, for eg. at the rear is not bonded, but does use foam with a soft lining.

When backing material with foam just use a very minimal amount of glue to hold the fabric in place so you can sew a perimeter stitch around the entire piece. Then trim of excess foam. Many trimmers use no glue at all to back fabric with foam and just use the perimeter stitch.

Hope this helps!
