I tore apart a Mercedes SUV seat and found thin layers of foam covered with this rubber, sew foam over top then felt.

What is this foam rubber called?

Did you take apart the Mercedes seat only to practice? It would be very instructional for noobies to take apart different seats to see how manufacturers work
