Looking for the paper string material that the spring wires hook onto. This came out of a 72 Charger bench seat.

I think it's original. I've had the car since 93. The previous owner had fabric seat covers installed just before I bought it. I took them off and found what looks to be the original seat covers. The top of the rear seat back was completely ate up by UV -

The burlap is equally decayed. I think this is the original stuff.

Is there a better material available now? I don't mind upgrading.

Thanks, I ordered some a couple days ago. Now I've got a new problem - the thin wires, the ones that thread through the burlap, are breaking on me. Where can I get this wire at?

It looks like the Flex-o-later springs run from front to back. These run from side to side -

I'm breaking the ends trying to open the hook up so I can get the welt cord out and push the wires through the burlap. I doubt the wires would break otherwise. The zig zag springs appear to be fine. I'm not planning to replace the springs or foam on the front bench. It's still in good shape after 50 years.

While I'm at it, there's a different material around the edge of the burlap in these pictures -

These aren't my pics BTW. I pulled my seat apart over a decade ago and now I'm trying to figure out how it went together.

I've torn some of that stuff off of old seats before. I think its just burlap that the manufactures used that had spring wire woven into the burlap. I haven's seen anywhere that you can buy that stuff now. It's just in there as a barrier between the springs and the foam, and to stiffen it up a little bit. When I remove them I just replace it with some vinyl material, I've heard some guys use jute pad also. Depending what the customer is looking for I sometimes will weave jute webbing or seat belt webbing between the seat springs to tie them all together and stiffen the seat up some too.
