Hi all,
Checked the forums and couldn’t find the answers I was looking for so hoping someone can help,
I’ve just started my own automotive upholstery company,
(Have been in the automotive upholstery trade for years)
I’m currently in the market for a sewing machine as my current one is good for leather, but I have the issue of needing to sew plastic profiles to the leather of which my machine will not do,

I’m currently looking at getting a second hand budget Industrial machine, just until I’ve accumulated some profit to get something a bit better,

So my question is, does anyone have any experience with a brother db2-755-3 sewing machine ? Will it sew through the plastic profiles ? if not is anyone able to recommend a budget machine that would be able to do the job ? I’m looking to spend under £200

Many thanks

I couldn't reccommed that brother model for upholstery or leather. It will make stitches, but you won't know how much you are handicapping yourself until you get a triple feed walking foot machine. Models to look for are: pfaff 145 or 1245, juki 562 or 1541 and 1508, seiko sth-8bdl3, adler 267-373, consew 225, 226 or 206, singer 111w155. Brother has them too but the model escapes me now and there are plenty of other makes/models that i am neglecting. These listed will be well built, and should be available on the used market. May i ask what machine you have that does leather but not plastic?

Yep @Adam12 is spot on. Only thing ill add is that you will have a lot of difficulty finding a good industrial machine under 200. In the US good used machines sell between $500 and $1000. I personally have never seen a machine worth buying for $200.
