First off great videos and thank you for making my weekend project turn into a long restoration :joy:

I have zero experience in this field but I started to tear apart my old 1988 Toyota pickup because the previous owner put in a bunch of "custom" sound stuff that looks like trash.

The back of the cab is nothing but sheet metal and I am building an abs panel to cover the sound deadening material, i ran into a problem though. How should I attach the panel to the cab? I don't really want to drill through the cab that could create a hole for water to get through and you would also be able to see the screw or clips on the outside if you look between the cab and bed. There was never a panel there so there are no existing mounting locations.

Thanks for any help and look forward to learning more from here!

Hi @Wrestler157! Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like a fun project you got there. So when mounting panels I definitely dont recommend drilling any holes through the cab. If there is no inner structure to attach panel clips to then you will have to make some mounting brackets. You'll have to use your imagination to make something for your specific application.
As for attachment methods I there are a few options below to avoid drilling holes.
- 3M panel bond works great for attaching mounting brackets
- 3m automotive attachment tape is a really strong quick way to attach brackets. Make sure its the automotive type there are many home versions that dont work well.
- Magnets. I some times glue rare earth magnets flush into a panel so the panel will stick to any metal surface.
- Sticky backed Velcro works well in some applications.

Hope this helps! Post some pictures when you get it finished.

@John

Awesome thank you for the quick reply! I will definitely post some pictures when I'm done. I cut out my first door panel last night from ABS plastic, wasn't as bad at it as I thought! I am going to be covering it in 1/8" closed cell foam and vinyl. Any recommendations on a where to get vinyl? Also I wanted to add a raise logo under the vinyl but not sure what to use for the logo? I'm not sure the correct name for this either. I was thinking I could just cut out my design from the closed cell foam and glue it on top of my foam then cover it?

Welcome to the forum! I will let others chime in on the ABS. I am curious on your user name is it wrestling like body slams and smacking chairs on backs or it wrestling like arms drag duck under type wrestling you are into if any.

Thanks! It's the arms drags duck under (collegiate) wrestling. I've used it for many forums through the years so I stick with it so I can remember my log in stuff lol its been about 9 years since I wrestled in college.

I always suggest Albrights Supply for fabric https://www.AlbrightsSupply.com/?Click=3957
There should be some local upholstery suppliers in the closed big city to you. Its a good idea to know your local suppliers as well.

As for the raised logo, you can do it the way you are talking about. I would do a test first to see if you like the look.
What logo are you going to put in?
