On my 34 Ford 2dr they sewed around the door panel about 6" in from the edge and another pass an inch in from that . That's a lot of sewing through the panel because these panels are big plus they did the same on the rear side panels . been practicing up to redo this car but won't be sewing through the panels :grinning: Looking forward to plastic panels and getting rid of Christmas tree clips . Seems like I've had these panels of a lot and the plastic clips are hard on the black panels

Yes make sure you wear safety glasses! Ive broken a few needles before. It scary. Gonna have to change your shorts after.

Ive seen people sew through ABS before but Im with @Todds34rod I avoid it.

@hapyrdr Yeah I hate christmas tree clips too! They are good for like 2 uses and that's it. I only use them if I have too and its a panel that never needs to be removed.

I had no idea those machines were capable of that! That is almost the same Kenmore I bought my wife. She doesn't know it yet but she's about to start sewing upholstery. Haha

@Bondo,

I have every foot attachment known to man for this machine. I can make any dress and darn any sock on earth!

The foot lift is not impressive but that is four layers of vinyl and it would sew through 06 no problem. The top layer is 40oz Artic grade as you can see it is thick .

It is a miserable unit to control though talk about speed but I am sure hooked up to a modern foot pedal it would be better.
I sewed two layers of vinyl over the JHook to demonstrate that this machine can sew through. Impressive eh!

@bondo497, @John,

Just to prep I have sprayed my machine down with Brake Cleaner so everything is nice and dry and turned my Servo motor up to 3500.

I really don't want anything to go well here tonight that Fabricator looks REALLY cool! Bondo you really need more time to think about your project so just trying to figure out how I can help with that :wink:

Let er rip! I'll be standing by. Will the Fabricator be requiring a passport my good man? I haven't sat at my machine since I ran out of practice material, I probably need to at least power it up and make sure it still works before I ship it your way.

Most industrial machines can sew some thick material, including ABS. If youre really doing alot of heavy sewing id recommend the Juki 1508NH

@jdenison89 How does the Juki 1508NH compare to the Juki DNU 1541s. Ive never used the 1508 but I really liked the 1541, especially for the price.
