Hello everybody!

Just starting out. I've been lurking around in the forum and thought I would introduce myself. I'm a Computer Programming manager and have next to none sewing experience. I did make a tie in the seven grade long long long time ago.

I bought a new seat frame for my 1936 Ford and got a quote from a shop that did work in the past for me and the price was very high. If I had them do the complete car, I wouldn't be able to afford it. I thought I'm almost retired, so I bought a Consew 206RB5, some practice vinyl and John's video courses. The videos have been great!

So for my first project, I made a round seat, used some foam I had laying around. My wife thinks it looks really good. It took me three attempts, but I'm learning. I'm also enjoying it.

I'm getting ready to do some scaled down practice seats with pleats and diamonds for practice before I attempt sewing the new seat.

Thanks in advance for all the questions I have!

Jerry

Thanks miket!

So far I really like the 206. Seems well built and no problems. There is a lot of information out there on the 206. I really like the feature for learning to turn the rpm done so I can do one stitch at a time.

Congratulations to everyone just braking into the industry of the upholstery world. I am also a first time member and forum user. This is history for me today as I start another chapter in my life that I am really looking forward to. I am a jack of many trades. I have been called a Renaissance man of sorts. I came from the tech sector myself. Since 1984 I have been working in the telecom industry. Along the way into my late 40's I worked in several industries gaining as much knowledge and raw experience as I could. I learned a heck of a lot and even today I am able to draw on decades of experience in many different industries but my favorite one is upholstery and cars. I love the sewing and the creative element of the art. We can call it art because it is a creation of work that is well thought out and well executed.

I have been watching the Lucky Needle from a distance but only recently embraced Johns creation of his video library. Well done John! Thank you for setting up your business that supports all of our businesses. Bravo on the production of the videos you have done and will hopefully continue to do. I hope that maybe one day I too can make a video to share with Lucky Needle Community and beyond. I had four years in the auto upholstery business in California at a great company and had another 4 years at top tier upholstery shop in Huntsville, Al. I was laid off in late november of last year 2019. I have been blessed to be here and have the success I have has so far to date. I know now what my mission is moving forward and with that I am on line and have made a fantastic start here in Northern Alabama. Lucky Needle is just what I needed to give me that extra edge I am going to need moving forward. I look forward to sharing any trade secrets and tips I can to help others succeed in this industry. Good luck to everyone and thanks for the forum John! Keep doing a great job.
